{"id":4122,"date":"2024-06-07T00:00:02","date_gmt":"2024-06-07T05:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blackaby.net\/members\/?p=4122"},"modified":"2024-05-31T11:30:17","modified_gmt":"2024-05-31T16:30:17","slug":"consult-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blackabyleadership.org\/app\/2024\/06\/07\/consult-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Consult God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s easy to see why Abraham said what he did.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t\u00a0want King Abimelech to have him killed.\u00a0 Even though God had promised to give him and Sarah an heir (obviously Abram&#8217;s death would make it hard for God to keep His promise), Abram did what he could to protect himself from the powerful ruler.<\/p>\n<p>Abraham failed to consult God in this time of crisis; he took matters into his own hands.\u00a0 Doing so put him and those he loved in danger.\u00a0 Like Abraham, we can be guilty of not trusting God in difficult situations.\u00a0 God uses such blunders to show us our limitations and our need for Him.<\/p>\n<p>But perhaps Abraham&#8217;s lying words&#8211;like some of your decisions&#8211;were an unthinking reaction to the dangerous situation he found himself in.\u00a0 And perhaps you can remember less-than-honest, less-than-godly responses to circumstances in your life.\u00a0 May you reach the point where you are so close to God that your automatic reaction is to consult Him!<\/p>\n<p>Then, when God does offer his guidance, trust Him and obey regardless of whether His direction makes perfect sense to you.\u00a0 He knows what He is doing!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, &#8220;She is my sister.&#8221;  And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.
